First published in 1947, Eddie Joseph's award-winning "JASONISM" is widely considered to be one of his greatest conceptions with cards. It was also one of his most closely held secrets for well over a decade. JASONISM is a divination of a mentally selected card where the handling appears so fair and above board that it precludes the possibility of any subterfuge on the performer's part. Here's the basic effect and keep in mind you may be genuinely blindfolded or simply have someone cover your eyes throughout the demonstration. A spectator first shuffles any deck, even a borrowed one you have never touched. He then cuts off a portion and hands it to you. You now show the faces of the cards, one by one, counting them as you do so. The spectator is asked to mentally select any card he sees and remember its position, but not to give you any indication when he has done so. When you have shown all of the cards, you hand him the packet, asking him to form a mental image of his card and perform one simple procedure sight unseen. He then names all of the cards he holds. As soon as this is done, you appear to intercept the mental vibration and name his thought of card to everyone's stunned amazement. You won't find a cleaner, easier to perform, impromptu mental card card miracle. Not a single sleight and no mental gymnastics. Complete with Eddie Joseph's excellent patter.
