III. SPONGE-BALL MANIPULATIONS
The quite recent use of balls made of sponge has introduced the entirely new principle of compressibility in the manipulation of balls. Two or even three sponge balls can be squeezed together to give them the appearance of one ball only, and the application of this principle has led to the invention of a number of novel effects. For close, intimate work in the parlor or club there are few tricks to compare with a good routine of sponge-ball manipulations.
We will consider first the materials, then the sleights, and finally the tricks end routines for which sponge balls are necessary.
